Working with Nate on this Men in Motion look was deeply gratifying. Nate first stepped into the More ∞ Joy world during last year’s ArtPrize project, The Spectrum Between Us, dressed in Cerulean Blue. Since then, it’s been powerful to watch how his relationship with color continues to evolve. This time, something new revealed itself. When Nate moves through shades of the forest — Moss Green, Brazil Nut, the deep browns of earth — he doesn’t just look aligned. He comes alive.

Developing a Viking-Inspired Look
As the Michigan Nordic Fire Festival approached, we set out to build a look that felt:
- Viking inspired
- Movement friendly
- Accessible to recreate
- Comfortable enough to live in
We began, as always, with layers, composition, and color harmony.

The Layered Build
Nate’s look came together through intentional tonal grounding:
- Moss Green + Brazil Nut dyed denim
- Palomino Gold + Brazil Nut terry cloth robe (from the recent Cosmic Bodies show — Saturn’s look)
- Brazil Nut rayon head scarf
- Cotton beanie in Brazil Nut
- Bamboo cloak in black and Rust Brown
- Brown leather belts and leather satchel
What made the look sing was the muting through Brazil Nut — allowing greens, yellows, and reds to speak in the same visual language. Nothing shouted. Everything belonged. By the end, Nate looked like he had walked straight out of the forest.

Movement Changes Everything
My favorite moment wasn’t just the studio styling — though watching the layers come together is always magic.
It was what happened once we stepped outside.
We shot at Riverside Park near dusk, catching the soft drop of the setting sun. In the cold air, something shifted in Nate’s body language. He found a walking stick from the forest and began to play — dancing, jumping, leaning into the landscape.

This is why Men in Motion exists. Because masculinity doesn’t reveal itself in stillness.
It reveals itself in movement.
Watching Nate move — grounded, connected, responsive to the earth — was deeply satisfying. The clothes didn’t constrain him. They invited him.

And if you know a man who comes alive when he moves… I’d love to meet him.
