“He looked like part of the graffiti had peeled off the wall and come to life.”
Dante carries stillness like a shield — soft-spoken, observant, and solid. We met at Michigan Fashion Week, where he noticed my outfit and later bought his own full look in black. We styled it together — a dash-dyed denim vest, denim jeans, black rayon accessories, and a wide-brimmed cowboy hat that seemed to crown him in self-possession. Like something clicked into place.
Dante is a model and actor from Lake Station, Indiana, supported by his mother, Shara, and loved by his five cats. He’s an introvert with a vast inner world — a complexity that doesn’t always ask to be seen, but always deserves to be.
We photographed him at the railroad crossing above Jackson Island on the Grand River — a rusted structure of steel, decay, and sky. A recycling plant and graffiti-covered walls created the backdrop, but Dante was the spark. This black isn’t flat — it’s alive with texture, with tiny flecks of color like midnight confetti. We call it New Black — a cracked-open pen of potential. A shade that doesn’t swallow light, it carries it.
With his cowboy hat and confident stance, Dante became an urban cowboy — part sculpture, part memory, part song. He stood tall. He held the moment. This wasn’t just a portrait. It was a reclamation.

Symbolism
New Black is the color of mystery, resilience, and redefinition. Unlike flat black, this version radiates — it reflects struggle, growth, and understated power. It honors shadow not as darkness, but as depth. It’s the color of those becoming something more.

Psychology
Psychologically, black is often chosen by those seeking clarity, protection, or a sense of strength. But New Black is selected by those ready to be seen differently — those redefining their relationship to identity, creativity, and stillness.

Energy
New Black harmonizes with the root and crown chakras — grounding while connecting to something bigger. It’s about presence with purpose. It centers, shields, and quietly expands.

Somatics
Wearing black may bring a sense of alignment — spine tall, breath slow. This shade may feel like standing in your full silhouette. It carries weight in a way that says: I’m here. And I hold multitudes.

If New Black is your color, you may be refining how you show up in the world. You’re not fading — you’re forging. You’re turning shadow into style. You’re letting the quiet speak volumes. ✨ You don’t have to be loud to be unforgettable. ✨
