Description
Muir Green is a soft, forest-inspired green-gray — serene and grounding, named in spirit after the wild places of Muir Woods. A deep, muted Autumn neutral. Dharma Trading Co. #170. Pairs with Olive Drab and Sage Green for a sophisticated olive-gray neutral range; flattering on medium, olive, and deep complexions.
How to dash-dye with this color
- Prep your piece. Prewash a natural-fiber garment (cotton, rayon, linen or hemp) and leave it damp, not dripping.
- Sprinkle the dye. This activated dye is pre-mixed with soda ash, so there’s no pre-soak. Flick, sprinkle or tap the powder onto the fabric. Start light; you can always add more.
- Mist to move it. Mist with water (or a little soda ash and water) so the pigment travels and blooms. Blended colors split as they move.
- Let it set. Bag or wrap the piece and leave it somewhere warm, at least 70°F, for 4 hours or overnight for the richest color.
- Rinse and wash. Rinse in cool water until it runs mostly clear, then wash warm with mild detergent, alone or with similar colors the first few times.
